Once you complete the Women Empowered program, you may test for promotion to pink belt!īrazilian Jiu-jitsu is the perfect self-defense system for women, but only if it is taught correctly. Unlike most self-defense systems that rely heavily on strength, speed, and coordination, the techniques in the Women Empowered program employ leverage, technique, and timing, so anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability, can make them work against larger opponents. You can start the program at any time and participate in any class without previous experience. Each one-hour Women Empowered lesson addresses two techniques.
In this 15-lesson program, we will teach you how to neutralize the 20 most common attacks ranging from having your hair grabbed to being pinned to the ground by a weapon-bearing assailant. Women Empowered is the official Gracie self-defense program for women based on the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Once you earn all four stripes on your Blue Belt, you will qualify to test for promotion to Purple Belt. Upon perfecting all the techniques in a given stripe course, you may opt to test for the next stripe or simply be promoted on general progress and technical ability and demonstrated knowledge. These drills are practised along with a variety of Focus Sparring exercises to help internalise the techniques and develop reflexes. The Master Cycle lessons use the same “Technique Slicing” strategy found in the Fundamentals course, but because the techniques are complex, we use a revolutionary training exercise called Rapid Mastery Drills at the end of each class. The Master Cycle is broken down into three levels, one for each belt after blue (purple, brown and black), and promotion to each new belt level requires successful completion of four stripe courses each of which features 50-60 lessons which are broken down into seven positional chapters. By mastering all the techniques in this course, individually and in every possible combination, you will qualify to be tested for promotion to Blue Belt.īeyond Blue Belt, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu consists of hundreds of advanced techniques, all of which have been organised into a clearly defined, systematic curriculum called the Master Cycle. To optimise learning, and to best prepare you for the Blue Belt, we encourage you to adhere to the curriculum and you’ll graduate to the advanced classes after mastering the core techniques of the art of Jiu Jitsu. Once your reflexes are strong in the execution of all variations of the techniques, we will show you how to combine the new move with 5-7 previously learned techniques in a Fight Simulation Drill. After you perfect each variation of the technique, we’ll teach you how to combine them in a Reflex Development Drill.
In each of the lessons, we’ll teach you two major techniques using a series of clearly defined drills or Technical Slices.
In this course, we use a new training process called Dynamic Reflex Development to take you, regardless of age or athletic ability, from no knowledge to “defence ready” in the least amount of time. Although Jiu-Jitsu consists of more than 600 techniques, studies of challenge matches conducted by the Gracie family in the last 80 years show that 36 techniques are used more often and with greater success than all the others combined. Gracie Combatives is the only course that is entirely dedicated to the mastery of these 36 essential techniques.
